Becoming a doctor/Medical Practitioner

Becoming a doctor seems to be one of the most sought after ambitions of many teenagers today. There is no doubt it gives you good money and reputation in the society. It involves a lot of hard work and dedication. If you are just after money and reputation, it is better for you (and the society) to identify your real calling. If you sincerely wish to become a doctor you should start taking your Sciences seriously even before you are out of grade X. The earlier you start, the better.

Do not forget that there is real cut throat competition in this field. Thousands of students appear for the entrance examinations every year and as the seats are restricted only the best get selected. It is not a bad idea to join a good coaching institute after grade X. But you should start preparing at least when you are in grade IX. It is advisable to join an online coaching in grade IX and a direct (face to face )coaching after grade X.

Although the admission procedure is different in different states, the syllabus for entrance examination remain the same. Even if you wish to pursue medicine in a foreign university, prior to taking admission make sure that your institute/university of choice is approved by Medical Council of India.
